YBA PLAY

We have been in conversations about partnering with the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy (YBA) to help out with their PLAY program. YBA PLAY is a FREE clinic-based program for youth ages 5-12 aimed at introducing kids to the game of baseball and exposing them to healthy social and physical habits like leadership, teamwork, and nutrition. Supporting YBA PLAY is one of the best community service opportunities in Washington, DC. Volunteers receive youth development trainings, exposure to a diverse group of community builders, and most importantly, help positively impact the lives of dozens of children.
We plan to run a pilot in the next few weeks and are looking for volunteers. In exchange for volunteering to coach a couple of games on a Monday or Wednesday evening (schedule below), the turf fields will be open for you to play a CAN game following the YBA activity. What a cool way to give back to an awesome cause and a way to secure a field (we all know this year has been brutal!) If anyone is interested in volunteering (or if any coaches are looking to volunteer in exchange for the field), reach out directly to Joe Mercado. They’re always willing to take volunteers but we are asking for 8-10 (or more) players total from both teams to trade for a field for an evening.

Back To School Drive

We plan to open up a Back to School Drive that will be run by our very own, Renita Upshur (OSU). If you are interested in working with her to set this up for the tournament, please don’t hesitate to reach out – rumor has it that there might be a little friendly competition going around too.
Other Service Ideas
